Gasoline Dreams Series: Miss Van/Homage
This work is an homage to female graffiti artists. Miss Van is an internationally know graffiti artist who is from Toulouse, France who now works in Barcelona, Spain. I imagine her here with spray cans held high in painting mode. She has two of her famous graffiti "poupee's" on her biceps in this work and two tattoo sleeves as well. Below we see a Narutu Anime cartoon girl with characteristic questioning/dismissive look. She is flanked by a googled pix of a sultry lady with "sugar skull" tattoo's. I include a sample of a famous Los Angelos graffiti mural entitled, "Angela Will Rise" done by a group of graffiti artists who call themselves the "Mad Society Kings". I also include my own tag and many more of the popular sugar skull tattoo images. Miss Van actually went to art school with my niece Stephanie in Toulouse back in the day. Love your work girl!
