Education
I grew up in Kenmore, New York (a suburb of Buffalo). At Kenmore High School West I majored in Art.  The art major was a 4 year college style curriculum with a wide array of courses.  I was an Art major at Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA. and got a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art.  Next I went to the University of Pittsburgh for a Masters of Art Education degree.  At Pitt we took studio courses at Carnegie Mellon University and I also took studio courses at Columbia Teachers college in NYC as well as art history at Columbia University.  Finally, I got a Doctorate of Art Education Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh, PA Where I took further art history and studio courses.  I took graduate art history and studios courses at the George Washington University and the National Gallery of Art as a selected participant in a Title III Summer Program called the Museum and the Art Teacher in the Summer of 1966.

Exhibition
I have exhibited widely in the Pittsburgh region primarily and have exhibited nationally in selected shows as well.  As an artist I found a great deal of inspiration being a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, begun in 1911 one of the historic artist member organizations in the nation that still survives and has an annual juried exhibiton at the Carnegie-Scaife Museum of Art. I screened into the AAP in 1973 and have been juried into 25 of the 40 shows they have had in the years since I became a member.  I have been awarded 3 of their prestigious AAP Jurors Awards given at the AAP Annual Juried Exhibition at the Carnegie-Scaife Museum for the 1984, 1986 and 1987 Exhibitions.  I have served on the AAP Board of Directors and have served as the organzations President for the years 1988, 1989 and 1990.  I am now a working professional artist with a studio in the Indiana Theater Building, Indiana, PA.  I continue to develop new artistic ideas as well as adding to my earlier bodies of work.  I have gained a great deal of interest and success with my Gasoline Dreams Series which I add to regularly and can be seen in part in my Gasoline Dreams Gallery here on the Art Span Wedsite.  Recently I have begun work on a body of Spiritual art and have the initial work on display here ar Art Span.  My Art Span Figurative gallery contains works I did when I was a figure drawing professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Eventually visitors will be able to buy giclee prints of the works seen on display but I am still building my website right now.  My art work is owned by Blue Cross Blue Shield of PA, the PNC Bank, The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, The IUP Museum of Art, among others and numerous private collectors.
